Description : Understanding lighting in a digital environment
This course will show you a hands-on approach to real-time game lighting in the context of the production phase. We work in Unreal Engine, because it is easy to get it, but the workflow and techniques that we will analyze will be abstracted from specific platforms as much as possible. This is due to the fact that many studios change their engines a lot while working on projects. These techniques can be applied to work on any modern task. This course will guide students through weekly exploration of different lighting scenarios, environments, and play styles. The instructor will demonstrate his own lighting approach and workflow, which he uses to move from conceptual sketching to a working playable level. All required scene files will be provided.
