Extended description
The videos are divided into 6 sections.
In the first section, we will give an overview of the Corona user interface and the general way of working in 3ds Max.
Section 2 is dedicated to lighting and global illumination. First we’ll look at Corona lights and all their features, and then we’ll look at global illumination or indirect illumination, we will learn how light rays behave in real life and how Corona simulates similar behavior using global illumination. Then we’ll learn about the two GI engines in Corona – Path Tracing and UHD Cache, and how and when to use which to get the most realistic lighting possible.
After learning the basics of lighting and GI, we will look at the sun and sky in Corona, lighting using images, Corona Light material, we will learn how to make interior lighting correctly and efficiently, we will learn about the effects of volumetrics in Corona, and we will get to know the amazing Light Mix function in Corona. which allows you to interactively re-illuminate a scene during or after rendering.
Section 3 focuses on materials and maps in Corona. First we will take a look at the Corona Material, also known as CoronaMtl, which is the core of Corona, we will learn everything about it and how to create realistic shaders with it.
We will examine the layering material and the Rayswitch material. Let’s take a closer look at the skin material in Corona, which allows for extremely realistic skin shaders. Let’s take a look at the hair material that allows for very natural and realistic hair shaders.
We will learn about the Shadow catcher material and how to integrate your 3D geometry with HDR environments or photographic mattes in Corona.
And finally, let’s go through all the remaining materials and maps that come with Corona. In the next section, we will learn about the Corona camera and camera effects. First we’ll go over the camera settings in detail, then we’ll see how to get and adjust effects like depth of field and motion blur. Let’s talk about different types of cameras, including VR in Corona.
Then we’ll look at lens effects like bloom and glare and other options. After reviewing this section, you will be able to control cameras in Corona because everything is explained in great detail and with an academic approach.
In the next section we will look at the rendering settings in Corona, first we will learn about the Corona framebuffer, look at the limits of progressive rendering, learn about resumable rendering, and how to use the noise reduction features to get renders without noise.
Next, let’s take a look at the performance settings, which are the most important in Corona. Let’s consider balancing anti-aliasing and global illumination, multipliers for light samples, maximum sample brightness and maximum beam depth.
And finally, we will analyze the render elements in Corona, look at each of them separately, learn how to generate them and what they add to the final image. We’ll see how they can be used for compositing in a third-party application like After Effects.
In the final section, we’ll take a look at Corona Proxy, Corona Scatter and Corona Converter, and finally we’ll look at the volumetric grid that allows you to import cached formats like OpenVDB and render them using Corona.
