Description : In this tutorial, designer Ara Kermanikyan will share his method of working with photogrammetry, showing the step by step process of using scan data in CG applications to create a production-ready character that can be used in films, television, virtual reality or visual effects. The masterclass focuses on efficient techniques, starting with loading and processing photogrammetric images in Reality Capture to generate and export 3D models and textures. The 3D scan of the character is then imported into Zbrush, Maya and Wrap3 for efficient processing, simplification, cleanup, texturing and retopology. Lectures cover the effective use of advanced modeling and retopology features in Zbrush, such as ZModeler, Dynamesh, Zremesher and geometry projection. The topology requirements and methodology are reviewed using Maya’s Quad Draw and Modeling toolkit to manually render an animation-ready topology over the scanned data. Finally, Wrap3 is used to automatically wrap a ready-to-animate topology over the scanned 3d character.
