Description : This is the second part of the tutorial on how to create realistic character skin textures. I’ll show you how to light up a character’s bust, and then I’ll show you how to properly use different maps to create realistic skin. Let’s start by creating a displacement map with different layers of detail, adjust reflections and highlights, and finally breathe life into the character by properly setting SSS (Subsurface Scattering). I will also give you my cards, but in low resolution, so that you can build your character based on them. Software used: Maya 2017, Arnold. Although I use 3D Studio for lighting and rendering, the method I show can be applied to other 3D packages as long as they support Arnold.
