Content
1. 2D and 3D Techniques
Deciding which dimension to work in is a tough choice. To start things off, Jama will walk you through the advantages and disadvantages of using 2D vs. 3D, and the power of combining them together. We will then do a tour of 3D-Coat, including the tools and workflow Jama uses to create concept sketches.
2. Hardsurface Sculpting
The first step is often the hardest. Here, Jama will show you how to sculpt various objects using voxels in 3D-Coat. You will learn all the techniques and tools needed to sculpt things like vehicles, props, and environments.
3. Advanced Hardsurfaces
In this lesson Jama will show you how to sketch quick ideas in 3D-Coat using different hardsurface and array tools.
4. Organic Sculpting
Not just your food has to be organic – your sculpts can be too! Jama will teach you his process for sculpting creatures using voxel and surface modes in 3D-Coat. You will then learn several different approaches to sculpt a character in 3D, including curves, stencils, and more.
5. Smart Materials and Textures
The right textures can quickly introduce vibrancy and life to your sculptures. Learn Jama’s workflow for preparing a model for texturing, and an introduction to smart materials. You’ll learn various texture-painting techniques, and all you need to know about building custom materials.
6. Designing the Shot
With the aid of 3D, Jama will explain the principles of basic cinematography and shot design. Here you’ll learn to assemble a scene using all of the assets you’ve sculpted in 3D-Coat, and set up a final render in Keyshot 5 and Marmoset
7. Advanced Keyshot Techniques
In the final stage of the 3D workflow, Jama will show you how to set up production-ready render passes and settings. Using texture projection workflows, you’ll learn to create unique designs for characters and environments.
8. Final Composite in Photoshop
Make your triumphant return to 2D! In this final lesson, Jama will teach you his best practices to composite, paint over, and add special effects to 3D renders in Photoshop. We’ll conclude by reviewing all of the content and techniques you’ve learned to use in the future.
