This is a simple Blender addon that will set up your Weight Paint options so that you can paint on back-facing polygons (a.k.a. “paint through the mesh“).
This is possible without the addon but you have to correctly set 3 separate Blender options. The relation between them is not obvious.
Once the addon is installed, you can enable the right settings using a single button:
Pricing
The addon is available as “pay-what-you-can”. We indeed ask you to pay for the addon… unless you really can’t afford it. Then you can get it for free ๐
The recommended amount for this addon is around $3.
Manual Workflow
If you want to do the same manually, you have to set these options as follows:
- Front Faces Only: OFF (Default: On)
- Falloff: Projected (Default: Sphere)
- Front-Face Falloff: OFF (Default: Off)
If you don’t want to use the addon here is a mini-tutorial on how to set it up manually. It may not seem like much but the settings are all over the place. I personally think it’s a headache when you have to turn them on and off repeatedly.
