Description : The average indie game can easily double or even triple its sales just by being translated into some of the most common languages spoken around the world. For example, sales of my game My Beautiful Paper Smile are 60% in non-English speaking countries. In this course, I’ll teach you how to use the Unreal Engine 5 Localization Panel to easily add translations to your game so you can reach audiences all over the world.
The best time to learn about localization is now. The earlier your game is in development, the better. When developers cannot plan ahead and design their games with translation in mind, they face many pitfalls and design decisions. I’ll share my real-life experience with releasing several translated games and all the best practices and tips that will save you weeks of implementation time.
Even if you are already halfway through the development of the game or if it is already finished, it is still not too late to learn how to translate your project. My game My Beautiful Paper Smile was halfway done when I started making it easier to translate. Of course, it was a bit more difficult than if I already knew everything from this course, but it was worth it!
Throughout the course, I will walk you through the appropriate project settings that are required for your translations to work properly, show you how to set up the localization control panel to work with your project, show you two different methods for adding translated text to your project (and which one is best) , as well as how to set active translation via Blueprint.
If you’re looking for information on how to find companies, teams, or individuals to translate your game, I won’t be teaching that here. In this course, I’m focusing on the technical side of things that happen inside UE5.
