Media Player Classic Home Cinema is a convenient multimedia player in all aspects. It is built on the basis of the classic Media Player Classic player and one of the best sets of media codecs ffdshow, and thanks to this it can play many video and audio file formats without installing external codecs. This player has a large number of different functionalities: it can play DVDs, can decode the popular H.264 format in hardware on the latest generation video cards, can work correctly with a second monitor (TV), supports various types of subtitles, can work with QuickTime and RealVideo formats etc.

    • Play VCD, SVCD and DVD without installing additional codecs.
    • AudioCD playback.
    • Playback of Real Media and QuickTime (if the corresponding codecs are installed on the system)
    • Plays files of any format that supports DirectShow, for example, DivX, XviD, H.264.
    • Playback and capture video from TV tuners.
    • Playback of Macromedia Flash videos, with the ActiveX plug-in installed, with the ability to rewind.
    • Arbitrary movement and scaling of the image.
    • Support for WinLirc and uICE control systems.
    • Command line support.
    • Ability to customize hot keys.
    • Saving the decoded stream (eg MPEG2 from protected DVDs).
    • Watching movies in a resolution different from the current one.
    • Ability to play a second audio track (in any supported format).
    • Play damaged AVI files
    • Supports all modern multimedia file formats, including: WAV, WMA, MP3, OGG, SND, AU, AIF, AIFC, AIFF, MIDI, MPEG,MPG, MP2, VOB, AC3, DTS, ASX, M3U, PLS, WAX , ASF, WM, WMA, WMV, AVI, CDA, JPEG, JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, D2V, MP4, SWF, MOV, QT, FLV and others
    • Support for subtitles.

    Changes from 2.0.0 to 2.1.0:

Updated LAV filters to version 0.78
Updated MediaInfo DLL to version 23.10
    Updated MPC Audio Renderer
All other third-party libraries have been updated

Added subtitle search provider The existing provider will cease operations at the end of 2023. Note: A new login is required to log into
Video previews can now also be placed below the search bar. See: Options > Settings
Internal subtitle renderer now has the ability to use libass for rendering
Some improvements related to the advanced option for a separate full screen mode
Added right-click actions to some toolbar buttons:
Play = Open file, Stop = Close file, Skip Back = Previous file, Skip Forward = Next file, Frame Step = Seek, Mute = Switch next audio track
    Support ATSC channel scanning
The playlist is now pinned to the right side by default. You can drag it to the bottom/left/top if you prefer that arrangement. Or even outside the player window.
Drag&drop/LoadSubtitle/ToggleSubtitle now also works with DirectVobSub and XySubFilter
HEVC hardware decoding is now disabled by default (on new install or factory reset) for Intel Haswell/Broadwell GPUs. These older GPUs have slow decoding with partial acceleration, and software decoding is preferred for stability. Of course, you can enable it if you wish.

Fixed several DPI scaling issues that occurred when moving between two screens with different DPIs.
Fixed an issue where DVB subtitles did not work during live playback
Fixed an issue with changing the default subtitle style via the styles dialog
Fixed incorrect Pan&Scan movement for rotated video in MadVR
    Several other minor fixes

    Features Overview
Many people don’t seem to be aware of some of the great features that have been added to MPC-HC over the years. Below is a list of useful options and features that everyone should know about:

    Playing HDR video
To do this you need to use MPC Video Renderer (MPCVR) or madVR.
Once installed, these HDR-enabled renders can be selected here:
    Options > Playback > Output
If you use other renderers, the colors will be incorrect!
I recommend installing the K-Lite Codec Pack. It includes MPC-HC and renderers in one easy-to-use package.
MPCVR is also available as a separate download below. MPCVR also supports Dolby Vision. MadVR does not support.
    Dark interface
Menu > View > Dark Theme
When using the dark theme, you can also change the height of the search bar and the size of the toolbar buttons.
    Options > Advanced
    Video preview in search bar
Options > Tweaks > Show preview in search bar
    Adjusting playback speed
Menu > Playback > Playback Speed
The player buttons that control playback speed have a default step of 2x. This step can be changed to a smaller value (eg 10%):
Options > Playback > Speed Step
Adjusting playback speed works best with the internal audio renderer. It also features automatic pitch correction.
Options > Playback > Output > Audio Renderer
MPC-HC can remember the playback position, so you can resume playback from that point in the future
    Options > Player > History
You can quickly view videos using Ctrl + Mouse Scrollwheel.
Moving to the next/previous file in a folder is carried out using the PageUp/PageDown keys.
You can perform automatic actions at the end of the file. For example, move to the next file or close the player.
Options > Playback > After Playback (Permanent Setting)
Menu > Playback > After playback (current file only)
    Repeat AB
You can loop a portion of a video. Press the buttons [ и ] to set start and stop markers.
    Rotate/flip/mirror/stretch/zoom video
Menu > View > Pan and Scan
This is also easy to do using hotkeys (see below).
There are many hotkeys and mouse actions to control the player. They can also be customized.
    Settings > Player > Keys
Tip: There is a search box above the table.
You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video sites
Place the yt-dlp.exe file in the MPC-HC installation folder.
You will then be able to open website URLs in the player: Menu > File > Open File/URL
You can even download these video files: Menu > File > Save a Copy
Tip: For the best boot quality with yt-dlp, it is recommended to also place ffmpeg.exe in the MPC-HC folder.
Several YDL configuration options are here: Options > Advanced
Among them is the option to specify the location of yt-dlp.exe if you do not want to place it in the MPC-HC folder.
Ability to search and download subtitles, both automatically and manually (pressing the D key):
    Options > Subtitles > Misc
In addition to all these (new) features, the player has received many bug fixes and internal improvements over the years to improve performance and stability. Internal codecs have also been updated. Added support for CUE sheets, WebVTT subtitles, etc.
