ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE

“Does this unit have a soul?”

Geth Platform 2A93 “Legion” is an advanced mobile platform formed from the gestalt consciousness of 1,183 networked AIs known as Geth. While all representatives of the Geth race are sapient machines, housing more than a thousand Geth programs Legion posses unique intelligence and even demonstrates an emotional attachment to the player character Commander Shepard. Inspired by the iconic video game character, the author of the Legion figurine for 3D printing took up the project that would rejoice any Mass Effect enthusiast. Bipedal Geth Infiltrator is carefully depicted with its Quarian-like head shape, hands, legs, and its trademark “flashlight head”. The 3D printing Legion has three thick fingers on both hands, and three toes on each foot. The suit of the “mobile platform” is pierced with various tubes all over its surface and the holes on the battle-damaged armour reveal intricate mechanical parts. The Geth model for 3D printing carries an antenna-like attachment on its left shoulder that is known to be peculiar to the large bipedal units only. In its right hand, Legion holds the Geth Pulse Rifle as if readily awaiting the impending enemy. We want to draw your attention to the diversity of textures that are distinctively depicted all over the Legion suit’s surface. The muscle tissue and the outer shell of the Geth Platform are adorned with various pins, stitches, splinters, and scars that do not cease impress the closer you inspect the figurine’s details. The uniqueness of the character’s appearance in combination with the spectacular level of the figurine’s execution will result in an amazing 3D printing project that you will surely not want to put off!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING (FFF/FDM 1.0, DLP/SLA 1.0, DLP/SLA Eco 1.0, SLS 2.0)

Legion figurine for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its updating and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 50 hours in total. Due to the fact that this figurine was first released on Gambody in 2016 as a one-piece model only, in order for all the Mass Effect fans to print the cleanest figurine possible the model was cut into assembly parts and adapted for different types of 3D printers taking into account the present-day technology advancements. Legion’s anatomy and body proportions were thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process for the figurine to be depicted harmoniously in the intended pose. For the Geth figurine to excel in the level of detail, our team made sure to enhance the textures all over the model’s damaged suit and worked on the detail of the figurine’s armour, weapon, accessories, etc. The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you in the model’s Eco version to save resin. In order to ensure the smooth 3D printed result, Legion’s large Geth Pulse Rifle, various tubes all over its body, the “flashlight head”, hands, the antenna-like attachment on its left shoulder, and some armour elements are now provided as separate STL files as well. All the assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won’t face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any figurine’s file you will also receive “Assembly Manual” for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model’s scale was calculated from the Legion’s actual height that is 1980 mm. The 3D printing figurine’s chosen scale is 1/8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.
